Volunteer
Volunteers are the foundation of the Vermont Equine Riding and Driving Association (VERDA). Our rides, educational programs, and events would not be possible without the dedication of members, families, and community supporters who generously give their time and talents. Volunteering is a rewarding way to contribute to the success of the organization, support fellow equestrians, and help ensure the future of endurance riding and driving in Vermont.
VERDA offers volunteer opportunities for individuals of all experience levels. Whether you are an experienced rider, a parent of a youth member, or someone looking to learn more about the sport, there is a place for you to get involved. Volunteers help keep rides safe, organized, and enjoyable for participants while supporting the overall mission of promoting horsemanship, sportsmanship, and equine welfare.
Supporting youth members is an important part of VERDA's volunteer culture. Adult volunteers serve as role models and mentors, helping young equestrians develop confidence, responsibility, leadership, and a deeper understanding of the sport. Youth members are also encouraged to volunteer whenever possible. By assisting at rides and events, young people gain valuable experience, earn service hours, and learn the many behind-the-scenes responsibilities that make successful equestrian events possible.
Volunteering is also an educational opportunity for adults and youth alike. Through hands-on participation, volunteers learn about event management, trail stewardship, equine welfare, competition procedures, veterinary checks, safety protocols, and organizational leadership. Whether working directly with riders and horses or helping with event logistics, volunteers gain knowledge and skills that strengthen both their involvement in VERDA and their broader equestrian experience.
